Why Heavy Items Are Different
A dresser weighs 80 pounds and comes out in one trip with two movers. An upright piano weighs 400 pounds and needs straps, a piano dolly, careful staircase navigation, and sometimes partial disassembly. One wrong move scratches hardwood, dents drywall, or puts someone in the ER.
We bring the right equipment: appliance dollies rated for 1,000+ pounds, furniture straps, floor runners to protect your hardwood, door frame protectors, and enough crew to do it safely. Most heavy item jobs need three people, not two.
Pianos: What to Know
Most old pianos are not worth what owners hope. Uprights from the 1920s to 1960s are rarely resellable because they are usually out of tune, the soundboard has cracked, and the market is flooded. A piano technician can tell you in 10 minutes if yours has resale value.
If it does not, we recycle what we can (metal strings, frame, brass hardware) and dispose of the wood cabinet responsibly.
Pool Tables: Plan Ahead
Slate pool tables cannot just be tilted and carried. The three slate pieces weigh 150 to 250 pounds each and are fragile. We disassemble them in place: remove the rails, felt, and slate, then carry each piece out separately. A typical pool table removal takes two to three hours.
Gun Safes: Special Considerations
Please empty the safe before we arrive. We do not move loaded safes. We need a clear path, ideally on ground floor. Stairs multiply both the cost and the risk. If it is bolted to the floor or wall, unbolt it ahead of time or we can at additional cost.
